What's Cooking at BVRS?

It's an Amazing Trifle!

The ladies of BVRS' spring New Outlook Class have learned that creating a fabulous dessert for their families is possible with vision loss.

The ladies spent the morning working together slicing strawberries, blueberries, and angel food cake. After they whipped up a thick, sweet pudding, they layered it all in a Trifle bowl. The results were as beautiful as they were delicious.  Pictured above from left are Frances Vereb, Audrey Clark, Helen Lantz, BVRS Rehabilitation Instructor Heidi Pierce, and Mary M. Jones. In New Outlook Classes, seniors learn how to manage their lives with vision loss. BVRS Rehabilitation teachers provide instruction in safe cooking, orientation and mobility, how to best perform personal tasks such as applying makeup and sewing buttons, maintaining a home, and other techniques of daily living.

"When I first came to class I was scared out of my mind," said Helen Lantz. "Now I have confidence and hope."
